Please help 'Save Ringo's Birthplace' by submitting our pages to any social bookmarking sites you use (Click on the 'Social Bookmark this page' on the menu on the left) and by adding as many web links (CLICK LINKS IN LEFT MENU) to our website as you can, so our importance on this matter will increase on the search engines and we can try and compete against these self called well educated & experts (exactly the same qualifications as the people who ruined our city centre in the 60's) with billions in their back pockets and in their sights after demolition in not just the Welsh Streets but all HMRI areas.

Having been called "social cleansing" by Jane Kennedy MP & former Labour Minister, the Tories have called for the scheme to be scrapped as did Prince Charles the Prince of Wales again recently on a visit to the area. Dr Peter Brown of the Merseyside Civic society told a committee of MPs "The whole enterprise smacks of a conspiracy between the registered social landlords and the local authority to 'carve up' the local property market between themselves, with no opportunity for the local community and affected residents to have a say in how the future of 'their' area is determined."

Their out of date demolition plans make no financial, social, ethical or more importantly these days, environmental sense at all. As the Sir Trevor McDonald's Tonight television program showed that these houses can be renovated into desirable homes for just £6,000 more than they are to be charged for demolition alone! 

People are prepared to buy & renovate themselves but are prevented due to the vast majority of housing stock in the local area being owned by the council and their social landlord allies who will not sell at any price.

Read about some of the dubious conduct of the pro demolition folk. Some other factors employed & if it's such an open and shut case why the need for all this deception.

And more dodgey dealings by HMR, paying for the Guardian newspaper to develop an advertisement feature for within that newspaper but without any statement that it was a paid advertisement and made to look like it was a news editorial.

Latest newspaper articles about this debacle. The national audit office's report highlights how residents of the welsh streets have been ignored in favour of uninvolved people the "wider community " who have nothing to do with the area at all and most can't even see the proposed demolition zone.
