How many people are still living in the welsh streets?
Under the latest plans that I know of, being only a resident of these streets, so not that high on the priorities of the people pulling the strings and holding the purse strings they might be 2 or 3 plans behind where they are this week.
Kelvin Grove Of the half that is to be demolished 4 houses still have their occupants living & waiting for the council to actually get planning permission for these "regeneration" plans they've been threatening people with for years and then they will fight the compulsory purchase orders that the council will probably issue once the planning permission comes through (doubt it'll take too long for them to get planning permission from themselves) in the high court One of these 3 storey houses is split into 3 flats/apartments. Wynnstay Street
In this street there is only 3 homes that have people still living in them. Voelas Street It didn't look like anyone was still living in this street I will check just to make sure though. Rhiwlas Street 8 houses are still occupied. Powis Street 17 homes still being lived in.
Madryn Street 20 still occupied including number 9 which is where Ringo Starr of The Beatles was born
Kinmel Street 22 homes with people still very keen to stay even though the tasteful way the empty houses have been blocked up & have flyers plastered on them to inform people of security details and house numbers sprayed onto them would make you think the graffitti was back in fashion. Gwydir Street i think was 46 which is a high number but i think at some stage in the multiple plans that keep getting changed and altered that this street wasn't supposed to be getting demolished along with Pengwern Street & Treborth Street that come of it. Unfortunately these numbers are never going to be going up as the Welsh Streets Home Group have stated they have a portfolio of people who wish to buy properties in these streets to redevelop but have been told they are not for sale at any price, in other words, we aren't selling them as we won't get our way if we do.
